Three months and no financials?

It's over three months after their fiscal year ended, and the PLCB has still not managed to figure out how to report their financials. By comparison, the Department Of Revenue, an agency more than ten times the size with millions of accounts has somehow managed to get an unaudited year end totals  out which is all we are asking for. And they did it the day after the fiscal year ended!

I think I know what the problem might be and offer this suggestion.

BRIBES are an expense.

However, KICKBACKS are an asset.

There. That should help speed things along. No charge for the service.

  1. I'm not sure why these financials are on hold, but the "board minutes" on the PLCB website seem awfully hard for the Average Joe to read. Am I the only one who feels I have to "decipher" them as if I were reading Morse code?

  2. The board minutes are encrypted as such for the same reason the financials are unavailable. They fear this blog. They fall asleep thinking of it. They wake thinking of it. All hail Albert!

  3. Let's talk about the real reason the financials are unavailable: chances are good that they undermine the arguments for keeping the PLCB the way it is. Those numbers probably won't come out till this session's privatization debate is settled one way or another.
And please, tell us how "the grown-ups" have already decided what's going to happen; it's so entertaining when you do that.

  4. Your reasons why the financials are not released make sense but why aren't the Republicans making a stink about it? Everyone knows the data exists in their new computer system.

  5. Probably because they're more focused on getting something better out of McIlhinney, and then getting Wolf to make some move toward agreeing to sign it. The Republicans undoubtedly don't believe they NEED last year's numbers to make their case for privatization; they're right.

  6. Even the UFCW doesn't have current information about the financials and while not being current on most PLCB numbers is their trademark they usually are misleading the public by now about how wonderful the state stores are.
